Pohutukawa Dance Festival 2016

We had such a lot of fun at our dance festival. Our dances were Paw Paw Patch, Do Re Mi, Tramp Tramp Tramp, Pohutukawa Tree and Hockey Tokey. Our grand parade worked out well. We had to practise it lots to get it right. We loved picking out our family members to dance with at the end.

Making rules to help our play

We are learning to make up rules together so that our games are fair. We know to have a starting place and we have to have turns. Sometimes we have to wait and that's OK. We have so much fun now. And we get to practise our skills. We are getting very good at catching. Mr Gifkins will be looking forward to us being in his cricket team.

Autumn Leaves

Today we went outside to the field to play in the leaves. We used ouir senses and talked about how the leaves felt and what they looked like. We are learning about putting WOW words into our stories so we chose lots of words about leaves.
Here are some of our shared stories that we wrote.

The crunchy leaves had zigzag teeth.
They fall down like a helicopter.
We found a giant golden brown leaf.
The leaf felt soft on my foot.
I saw a big yellow leaf, it was crunchy and pointy.
We crunched the orange and yellow leaves.
They looked like golden stars.
We made a pile of leaves and threw them up into the sky.
They made crunch, crack noises when you stand on them.
The leaves smell like trees. They feel dry and light in our hands.
When we threw them in the air they float to the ground and fly in the wind.

Working together

It has been so lovely watching our children in Rooms 16 and 17 working together to create things. They are learning about sharing, taking turns and waiting. Fabulous effort!!

PRIDE Awards

Well done to Eliza and Aiden on receiving your PRIDE awards. We are so proud of you.

Teddy Bears Picnic

Yesterday we had a Teddy Bears Picnic at school with our hub. We were allowed to bring our favourite teddy bears or cuddly soft toys to school. We made our own sandwiches for lunch and had to choose our favourite fillings. They were sooooo yummy. Thanks to Pippi's mum who bought a pinata full of lollies for us to have fun with. It was hard to bash but we did in the end. It was a great day.

Rubbish Free School

We are trying really hard to become a rubbish free school. Rubbish is to go home in lunchboxes from now on. But look at these lunchboxes that can help the children with this.
Yoghurts could be popped into containers with lids and then taken home to wash and reuse! We are talking about lots of ideas with the children.
